President Teresa Branch-Smith The President of the SSA serves as the chief spokesperson of the organization. In addition to liaising with faculty and university administration, Teresa delegates tasks to the Executive and General Council, coordinates meetings and events, and sees to the overall smooth running of the SSA. She also maintains a close relationship with the SFUO and sits on the Presidents Round Table with the other federated bodies. |

Transitional Vice-President Joel Fair The Transitional VP is a temporary portfolio held by the former VP of the SSA. As a result of this year’s restructuring of the Executive (now containing several VP’s instead of just one), Joel will aid with the shifting of responsibilities amongst the executives and continues to advise the President on matters of SSA governance. |

Vice-President of Internal Operations Richard Mah The VP Internal takes care of the behind-the-scenes infrastructure required to operate the SSA. He oversees locker rentals, maintains the SSA website, manages the main office, administers the booking of conference rooms, and updates the bulletin boards and posters around Marion. |

Vice-President of Finances Adam Ray The VP Finance manages SSA income, expenditures, transactions, and audits. From simple tasks such as paying bills to drafting budgets for each academic session, he makes sure money doesn’t get lost along the way. He also serves on the SFUO’s Money Round Table to keep track of financial decisions by the SFUO and the other faculties.

Vice-President of External Affairs Emily Moon The VP External is another primary link between the SSA, the Faculty, and other Universities. Emily is in charge of administering all official clubs within the SSA by processing applications, reviewing funding requests, etc, and is responsible for helping coordinate interuniversity events (such as the Ottawa Science Olympiad). The VP External is also the next-in-line to the SSA throne in the case that the President is unable to perform their duties. |

Vice-President of Academics Matt Alteen The VP Academic consults with the student body and the Faculty to ensure students are informed of scholastic initiatives, changes to programs and courses, and academic services available to them. He manages the awarding of SSA scholarships and Prof award each year, and holds a seat on the Faculty Curriculum Committee. He also sits on the University Affairs Round Table under the SFUO. |

Vice-President of Social Activities Veronica Santos The numerous extra-curricular events held by the SSA each year are the primary responsibility of the VP Social. This includes pub nights, ski trips, science games, and the entirety of the 101 Week schedule. She also sits on the SFUO’s Social Round Table to stay informed of ongoing events in the other faculties. |

Vice-President of Communications, Francophone Julie Levionnois The VP Comm Franco has the same tasks as their Anglophone counterpart but focuses the majority of her attention towards students in the French stream. Julie works in conjunction with Gwen in ensuring the SSA’s publications and activities are in both official languages. The VP Comm Anglo and Franco each must be registered in a degree of that language to be eligible for the position, ensuring adequate representation within the Faculty. |

Vice-President of Communications, Anglophone Gwen Cowley The VP Communications help the SSA stay in touch with its students by promoting upcoming events and informing students of the services we offer. Any media publications through posters, our newsletter, and our website fall under their portfolio. They are also responsible for the agenda and minutes of council meetings. As VP Comm Anglo, Gwen deals primarily with the English-speaking side of Science. |

Chancellor Geoff Parent The Chancellor is an appointed position created to ensure an effective transition between the old and new SSA Executive each year. The duty usually falls to the previous year’s President. Geoff has served on the SSA for 5 years (twice as president) and uses his wealth of knowledge and experience to advise the SSA on matters of planning and governance, especially in situations the SSA has encountered in the past. |

Senator for the Facutly of Science Allison Enright As the title implies, Allison is the student representative for the Faculty of Science at the University’s Senate, and acts as a liaison between upper university administration and science students. The elections for the Senate are separate from the SSA’s Executive elections, but the successful nominee is invited to serve as a member on the SSA executive. |

Logistics Co-ordinator John Dawdy The SSA’s Logistics Coordinators work closely with the VP Social in organizing the events for 101 week. They make sure goods are delivered, transportation and venues are booked, and aid with the setting-up and taking-down of equipment at each event. John and Louise take care of the details so that things run smoothly during the stress and late nights of 101 week. |

Volunteer Co-ordinator Mark Dornan The Volunteer Coordinator’s primary task over the summer months is the selection and organization of 101 Week guides. Mark helps schedule volunteers for guide training, assigns their roles as leaders of 101ers, and makes sure 101 Week events are properly staffed. |

Philanthropic Co-ordinator Valerie Lefebvre The Philanthropic Coordinator’s main job during the summer months is the organization of fundraising efforts for Shinerama, the country-wide university campaign to raise money for cystic fibrosis research. These fundraisers consist of numerous events throughout the summer, culminating in a massive Shinerama day during 101 week. Val helps plan these events in the summer and remains on the General Council for the remainder of the academic year to coordinate other fundraising efforts for other charities. |
The Department Reps on the General Council serve as a first point-of-contact for students in their respective programs. In addition to filling student seats on faculty and department committees, they assist with the basic operation of the SSA.
