RULE UPDATES and CLARIFICATIONS

1. CONCERNING THE NOMINATION FORM

1. No candidate in any race may sign the nomination form of any other candidate in any other race.

1. Doing so will count as slating.

2. Current executives may sign nomination forms of candidates.

1. It is understood that this is not a reflection of the will of the SSA.

3. A candidates nomination must be supported by at least 10 members of the SSA.

1. These 10 members can be either part-time or full time students.

4. The candidate must, herself, sign the candidate's oath for it to be valid.

1. It is acceptable for this to be signed electronically or by fax.

1. The signature is not required to be an original, ink signature.

2. Only hardcopies will be accepted as valid nomination forms.

3. SSA resources may not be used to print filled in nomination forms.

 

2. CONCERNING THE USE OF THE TERM "VOLUNTEER" OR "VOLUNTEERS" WITHIN THE ELECTION RULES AND NOMINATION FORM

1. The term volunteer describes any of the individuals or entities a candidate may press into service as allowed by the rules. These are limited to:

1. A candidate's proxy, for the duration of the candidates' meeting on March 19th, 2010 at 18h30.

2. A candidate's official representative, for the duration of the campaign period from March 22nd at 8h30 to March 26th at 17h30, 2010.

1. Per 4.12.1 of the SSA Constitution, no member of the outgoing executive may be an official representative for a candidate.

3. A candidate's scrutineer, for the duration of ballot counting on March 31st, at whatever time it is conducted (TBA) and for whatever length of the counting.

2. Volunteers may not be shared between candidates.

1. A person is considered a volunteer for a candidate for the duration of this election once they have served in any one of the capacities described in RULE UPDATES and CLARIFICATIONS 2.1.

3. A candidate's official representative is the only volunteer allowed to campaign for a candidate.

1. A candidate may only designate one (1) official representative.

 

3. CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. No candidate may present herself for more than one position during this election.

2. Contrary to the eligibility matrix, the v.-p. external affairs position does not require the candidate to be bilingual. (Confirmation pending)

3. A candidate is not required to be physically present for the election.

1. All forms that specify the signature of the candidate must bear the signature of the candidate and not that of a proxy or official representative.

2. Refer to RULE UPDATES and CLARIFICATIONS 1.4.1 for further specification.

 

4. CONCERNING VOTING

1. Each SSA member may vote.

1. A member may be either a part-time or full-time student.
