Scholarships 2010
If you're thinking about applying for an SSA scholarship (and we hope you are), here's everything you need to know. There are 10 awards that the Science Students' Association sponsors each year, ranging in value from 500 to 1000 dollars. They are:
- Award for Excellence in Research
- SSA Humanitarian Award
- Time Management Award
- Most Improved Student
- International Student Scholarship
- Alexandre Sabourin Award for Arts and the Community
- Gee-Gees Spirit Award
- K'leigh Cundal Community and School Spirit Award
- SSA Slubs Award
- Financial Need Bursary
Log into your Infoweb account and click "Online Scholarships and Bursaries". The SSA scholarships will be under the list of awards for the Faculty of Science, as will the eligibility requirements and supporting documentation required for each. Fill out the application form presented and submit it.
NOTE: the Online application system the University uses is rather primitive. The PDF file you submit contains your personal information, but the required documents (letters of reference, etc) cannot be attached. You'll need to submit these directly to the Financial Aid and Awards Office by either emailing scanned copies, faxing them, or dropping them off in person. Their contact info can be found here. Be sure to include your full name, student number, and the 5 digit award number of the scholarship in question so that nothing gets lost.
Remember that the deadline to apply is May 1st. We will be reviewing the applications during the following weeks, and the winners will be notified by mid-summer.
If you have any questions, contact Matt Alteen at academic@ssa-aes.com. Best of luck with your applications!
