In addition to hosting events and representing students, the SSA provides a variety of services and funding opportunities to help with everyday student life.  Take advantage of the services listed below:
 

Labcoats/Goggles

Borrowing

Forgot your labcoat or safety glasses at home?  The SSA has a limited supply that you can borrow for free.  All we need is your student card or government ID, which we hold on to until the equipment is returned.

Buying/Selling

Throughout the year we sell certified labcoats to anyone who needs them (which is almost everyone in science).  The lab coats are branded with the uOttawa Faculty of Science logo and come in small, medium and large.  The cost is $25.

We also buy back used labcoats and goggles and then sell them at cost to students who don't want to pay full price for a new set.  If you have a labcoat/goggles in reasonably good condition that you'd like to get rid of, stop by the office and we'll buy them off you in cash.
 

Model Kits

If you purchased a model kit early in your degree and don't plan on continuing your studies in chemistry, the SSA will buy your used model kit for $5.  The used kits are sold for the same price to anyone who doesn't want to pay $20 for a new one.
 

Lockers

The SSA administers all of the lockers in the Marion building and the basement of MacDonald Hall.  Lockers are rented to students for a cost of $20 for the full year or $15 for a semester.  To get a locker, find an available one and put a lock on it at the beginning of the school year.  In mid-September, notices will be posted prompting you to register the locker at the SSA office, at which point we collect your information and your payment.

Note that lockers that have a lock on them and are not registered by the posted deadline will be cut and the contents will be removed.  They will be held in storage for a period of time and a fee of $5 will apply to reclaim your items.

Marion Common Room

If you would like to book the common room in Marion for a private function, we can help you take care of the paperwork and will forward your request to the University's Conventions and Reservations service for processing.  Contact internal@ssa-aes.com for more details, or to make a reservation.
