SATURDAY & SUNDAY

Kit Sales

6 stations: online kit sale registration, online kit sale contract signing, same-day kit sales, same-day kit sale contract signing, kit pickup, team assigning.

- Location: Front of Biosciences

- Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm

- BRING A PHOTO ID

- Money to buy the kits (if not already purchased)

SUNDAY

Mario’s Hidden Stars Hunt

Scavenger hunt around campus and downtown Ottawa. This approximately 5km race accomplished in teams will allow you to explore the landmarks of the city.

- Location: D’iorio courtyard

- Time: 10:30am - 12:30am

- Around 5 km of walking involved

- Limited access to bathrooms

- Bring a water bottle

- Wear comfortable shoes

Wario’s MiniGame Mayhem (Accessible event)

This indoor event will feature various games and contests that can be done individually or in teams for prizes. With a photobooth, arts and crafts and a scavenger around STEM.

- Location: STEM 117

- Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm

Luigi’s Campus Discoveries

A tour around the science buildings on campus so you can see where your labs and lectures are going to take place. This will be about a 500m route that includes stairs.

- Location: Meet at d’Iorio courtyard

- Time: 12:30pm - 1:30pm

- Includes ~500m of walking and stairs

Yoshi’s Tie-Dye Labs (Chemistry Club)

An outdoor event in collaboration with the University of Ottawa Chemistry club to make your lab coats more colourful! Bring your own lab coat or purchase one on the day of the event. All other Materials provided.

- Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm

- Bring lab coats for tie-dye

Science Opening Ceremony

An outdoor event where 101ers can meet the team of the Science Students’ Association! A rundown of events for the week will be listed and afterwards everyone will be directed to the next event together!

- Location: In front of Marion

- Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm

MANDATORY: Present to consent/ take back the night/ opening ceremonies

Two events which educate about consent and highlight hotspots of sexual harassment on campus.

● Take back the night: An event that promotes the mission of TBTN in ending sexual violence. It’s a tour around campus that touches on the hotspots of sexual health resources and notes spots of violence

● Be Present to consent: A mandatory event for all 101ers that teaches them about the basics of consent and consent policy for uOttawa students. Facilitated by upper year students, BPtC is a time for students to reflect on their actions and behaviors as they make their way on the new campus.

UOSU Opening Ceremonies

An outdoor event where each faculty’s student body can cheer off one another.

- Location: Tabaret Lawn

- Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Boo’s BBQ Blast

A classic BBQ hosted by Safi Fine Foods to tie you over. There will be Halal and vegan options available.

- Location: Marion Courtyard

- Time: 6:00pm - 9:30pm

- Free food available (halal, gluten-free and vegan options available)

- Non-alcoholic drinks available (sugar-free options available)

Power-Up Pub Night

An indoor club night at Chez Putters where pool, dancing, and music will be available.

Only for students 18+ years of age, with official government ID.

101ers must wear their given shirts to be allowed entry and must take the provided transportation no ubering.

No backpacks or big bags are permitted.

- Time: 9:00pm - 1:00am

- MUST HAVE VALID IDS for 18+

- NO Independent transportation

- NO Drugs (will be thrown out in garbage)

- NO Bags (small bag for medical purposes only)

- Buses run back and forth from campus to bar all night

Koopa Troopa Game-a-thon

An indoor event held at CRX where various video games, board games, card games, and party games will be present.

- Location: Meet in front of the main CRX entrance

- Time: 8:30pm - 11:30pm

MONDAY

Red Bull Event

“After first picking up a basketball at the age of 17, Red Bull athlete Pascal Siakam has won a NBA Championship, is a two-time NBA All-Star, and even developed a signature spin move that’s feared throughout the League.

Now, competitors of all skillsets are invited to step up and take the challenge all summer long at this interactive basketball event — competing in timed rounds to see who can play like Pascal and hit his signature shots. Those bringing their A game to Siakam’s World will have the chance to win a VIP Toronto Raptors game experience and see Spicy P play.

Siakam’s World is going to be popping up at uOttawa Monday, September 4th from 11-3pm at UCU Square.”

HSSA Carnival

An outdoor event at Tabaret lawn hosted by the Health Science Student association that features inflatables, a dunk tank, a water slide and more! Buy some amazing food from one of the delicious food trucks: Mr. Churritos, the Caribbean Cruiser or Dogs at Dusk!

Super Mario Galaxy

This Science vs Engineers competition with a mix of indoor and outdoor events. These events consist of timeless summer camp challenges such as tug of war, paper airplane contest, and a final egg drop to determine the better faculty.

- Location: Meet at STEM

- Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Advocacy Event

This event runs 2pm – 3pm starting at Tabaret Lawn. Its goal is to teach students about the resources they have available to them on campus. We will be running this event with our guides, so attendance is not mandatory. If any of your guides want to help out, we will always take the hands and it may be nice for any 101ers participating to see familiar faces.

The Reckoning

This is the initiation into the faculty of science. Be warned it may get messy but you are in charge of your own fate. If you have any skin or respiratory conditions please speak to a member of the SSA executive team to ensure the event is right for you.

- Bring clothes/shoes that can get dirty

- WARNING: Skin or respiratory conditions should be made aware to SSA executive members beforehand

Gatineau Party

This event is happening from 8 pm – 1 am in Gatineau. There will be mandatory group transportation provided there and back (anybody arriving from private transportation will be denied entry).

- Location: Meet at d’Iorio Courtyard - Time: 8:30pm - 1:00am

- MUST HAVE VALID IDS for 18+

Glowing Just Dance Party

Come dance and sing the night away by playing Just Dance with a bunch of new friends. We will have refreshments and you can dance and karaoke your heart out.

TUESDAY

Shine - Shinerama is a non-profit organization to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. This energetic day is filled with a mix of outdoor and indoor activities hosted both on campus and off-campus. Some events to look forward to are “are you stronger than a uOttawa student?”, random street interviews, and uOttawa vs carleton.

● Fundraise for a cure for cystic fibrosis. In a decades old tradition, UOSU is working with Cystic Fibrosis Canada to celebrate Shine Day. With RSG specific fundraisers all morning, join RSG, UOSU and University executives on Tabaret lawn and pay to “wreck an exec”.

Wreck an Exec - Donate on the spot to Shinerama and pie, dump water on, or crack eggs on execs from UOSU and other student associations.

Buy-In event: Mario Kart

Try some real life Mario Kart by coming to Top Karting, an indoor go karting location in Gatineau. Teams of 14 will be held in a mini grand-prix that will last 25 minutes.

Daisy’s Painting Fiesta

Enjoy a paint night to let your creative side flourish. The night will feature mocktails, painting, music, and more!

Drag Show + Bingo

Facilitated by the university, we are supplying guides. The show will be a mix of performances, drag related bingo (with prizes) and a services fair where there will be university, UOSU, and community-based services related to sex education, LGBTQ+ community, and sexual health

Peaches Morning Munchies

Get your semester started right with an indoor breakfast spread! This event includes drinks and food with halal, gluten free and vegan options available.

Donkey Kong’s Jungle Journey

Visit one of the amazing Museums Ottawa has to offer, the Nature Museum!

- Location: Meet at d’Iorio Courtyard for buses (NO independent transportation)

Francofete

A fair with carnival games (including a mechanical bull), music and food. The guides will be around helping clean, hype up the kids, and make sure that students are safe and having fun.

Bioconnect BBQ

An outdoor collaborative BBQ with the club BioConnect. Halal and vegan options available.

UOSU Services Fair

The UOSU services will be tabling in the UCU main floor, outside the Auditorium/UOSU office. An opportunity for students to meet the folks who run the services, learn about job and volunteer opportunities.

Come see the Barbie Movie at Cineplex Cinemas! 101 week shirt is mandatory.

Reserved spots: Bowser’s Boat Bash

A boat party on the Ottawa River in collaboration with Health Sci! 101ers must wear their 101 week shirt to enter. Enjoy music and the beautiful scenery of Ottawa from the water.

- Cannot use independent transportation

- NO bags, alcohol or drugs

- Cannot leave the boat from 1-4pm

UOSHOW

An outdoor party on the university square open to all faculties! It features glow-in-the-dark paint and music by STYLO, DJ Kid Crayola, and the headliner, DJ PAQs. Be sure that you do not bring alcohol, drugs, and weapons. Be aware this event features flashing lights and may not be suitable for those who are photosensitive.

● There will be a meet and greet with the artist(s) who are performing at uOShow, we are hoping to have a backdrop where folks can take pictures and possibly get autographs. Happening on the MTP stairs (across from the Square)

Franco-Foot (Franco événement sportif)

It is going to be a football (soccer) tournament and drop-in dodgeball with music and ice breaker games. Students can come to watch and cheer on their friends, or they can come to play. We will have some guides, mostly cheerleaders!

FRIDAY

Toad’s Picnic Party

A 2km stroll and a picnic on Major Hill Park to conclude your first week of classes! Snacks will be provided. Gluten free options available.

UOSU Bubble Soccer

We will have bubble soccer and suction archery being offered. Come play!

Mario Party at the Gallery

This formal event hosted at the Ottawa Art Gallery (50 Mackenzie King Bridge) will allow you to show off your fancy side while you roam around the gallery. 101ers, feel free to ditch your white shirts and enjoy some live music!

Franco Trivia Event

General knowledge trivia with buzzers and teams of new friends. Be challenged about topics like geography, music, politics, sports, and more! Totally in French - this is a safe space for French speakers of all abilities.
